Trailer

At the beginning of the 19th century, the passenger pigeon was one of the most common bird species in the world, boasting roughly three to five billion specimens. Alas, human kind managed to drive the species to extinction in just a few decades. “R.I.P. – REDEMPTION” commemorates and celebrates the existence of this extinct bird. In this online sanctuary, the bird lives on and philosophizes about mortality, humankind and inter-species-grief.

“R.I.P. – REDEMPTION” is a spin-off of “Resurrect In Peace (R.I.P.)”, a performative funeral for the extinct bird that Anan Fries realised last year in co-production with HAU.

Note:

A laptop or desktop computer is required for "R.I.P. - REDEMPTION" (participation via smartphone or tablet is not possible), as well as a stable internet connection. We recommend using a computer mouse and headphones. To walk through the virtual world, use the following keys: w (straight), a (left), s (back), d (right). To look around, use your computer mouse or your trackpad. To talk with the pigeon, select your answer with the computer mouse or the trackpad.
